Would you please delete two of my three comments about how to pronounce that cold potato soup? The website kept telling me I got the code wrong and putting all those funny symbols in, and I kept trying to fix it, and then, look, it’s posted three times! Not really necessary for such a, mmm, nitpicky comment, is it?
My daughter is 18 now, and she nursed solely for the first year, and then kept it up for a long time after. But there was support for breastfeeding mothers where she was born, in NYC.
Her father is a native speaker of French, and although that soup is actually American, the name is French, and that’s why I know how to pronounce it. Vichy is a part of France, as in the Vichy Government during World War II, and Vichy water. (vee shee). And the final s is pronounced because there is an E at the end, but it is commonly mispronounced here in the USA as you have described it.
I made the soup, and it was delicious. So thank you.
